The setting is Rome's Centro Storico and the characters continue to develop from those we met in A Season for the Dead, The Villa of Mysteries, The Sacred Cut, The Lizard's Bite and the Seventh Sacrament. Caravaggio usually finds a place in David's books, but is a major player in this one.

One of the most unusual thrillers I've read in ages, it says on the back of the book and I couldn't agree more.
